Excellent turn-out for mission - 09, we had 22 pilots altogether !!!  Here is the next briefing to be flown on next Tuesday - June 13th.

"Solomon Islands Campaign"
Mission - 10 - Guadalcanal / 08
Date: September 15th, 1942

After Action Report:

Great job hitting those guns on the ridge.  The Marines have taken the ridge and have pushed the enemy back,  expanding our lines.

Intelligence:

Good afternoon Gentlemen ... It looks like the Tokyo Express is coming down for a visit. Let's give them a warm welcome. Radar reports that a enemy battleship and screening destroyers are coming down the slot near Savo island.  Speed looks like 20 knots.  Their current heading is 160 degrees.

The Mission:

F4F's and P-400's will provide CAP for the strike aircraft.
TBF's - will arm with torpedoes.

The TBF's will strike in pairs. If the battleship is sunk, the remaining TBF's with torpedoes will hit the screening destroyers.

NOTAM's:

TBF's (1st Squad, seats 5, 7, 15, 18, 25-34) - use main channel
P-400's (2nd Squad, seats 21-24, 37-40) - use "blue" comms
F4F's (3rd Squad, seats 1-4, 11-14) - use "blue" comms

F4F's (Spare's, HQ & Guests, seats 41-44) - use "blue" comms, AIR-START, zero fuel at this time

Good Luck ...

How many trops does it take to sink a Battleship? This should be interesting.

I'll swap the carriers for BBs in the warmup. Is it an IJN Battleship Generic, Dave? Or did you go ape poopie and put a Yamato in there?

Excellent turn-out for mission - 10, we had 21 pilots altogether !!!  Here is the next briefing to be flown on next Tuesday - June 20th.

"Solomon Islands Campaign"
Mission - 11 - Guadalcanal / 09
Date: September 24th, 1942

After Action Report:

Well done to the TBF's hammering the Tokyo Express and sinking that battleship, as well as, a couple of the destroyers.  The fighters also did very well, splashing 30+ enemy aircraft.

Intelligence:

The weather front we've been expecting has arrived.  Low cloud cover and rain is going to make it miserable for all of us. Radar coverage has been reduced by half. Enemy planes may strike Henderson with little or no warning.

The Mission:

SCRAMBLE ... SCRAMBLE ... SCRAMBLE !!!

Enemy aircraft just sighted ... 3 minutes from Henderson, all fighters get into the air !!!

NOTAM's:

*ALL aircraft on the same comms channel this mission.

F4F's (1st Squad, seats 1-8)
F4F's (2nd Squad, seats 9-12, 17-20)
P-400's (3rd Squad, seats 13-16, 21-24)
P-400's (Spare's, HQ & Guests, seats 25-28)- AIR-START, zero fuel at this time

Good Luck ...

Excellent turn-out for mission - 11, we had 20 pilots altogether !!!  Here is the next briefing to be flown on next Tuesday - June 27th.

"Solomon Islands Campaign"
Mission - 12 - Guadalcanal / 10
Date: October 12th, 1942

After Action Report:

After our last mission we lost almost 50% of our aircraft and pilots due to the weather and enemy aircraft.  We were able knock down 30+ enemy planes and keep the damage to Henderson to a minimum.

The weather has kept us grounded for almost a month now, during this time the Sea-Bee's have made vast improvements to Henderson.  We now have two functional air strips in which to fly off.

Intelligence:

During the weather lull, we've been reinforcing our positions here.  The Marines have beat the enemy back enough that we control almost half the island. We've hurt them bad enough that reports indicate they may want to try and leave the area of Guadalcanal.  Reports also indicate that the enemy has also brought in more supplies and aircraft into the Solomon area.

Radar has picked up enemy ships running the slot once again.  Also, it looks as if they are protected by air cover.

The Mission:

F4F's and P-400's - will provide CAP for the strike aircraft.

TBF's - arm with torpedoes.  Attack the Express.  The primary targets are the "big" ships, we don't know what the task force composition looks like, speed looks to be 20 knots on a heading of 160 degrees.

NOTAM's:

P-400's (1st Squad, seats 25-28, 37-40) - use "red" comms
TBF's (2nd Squad, seats 1-22) - use main channel
F4F's (3rd Squad, seats 29-36) - use "red" comms
TBF's (Spare's, HQ & Guests, seats 37-46) - use main channel

Good Luck ...
