"Sicily Campaign"
Mission - 13
Date: July 15th, 1943

After Action Report:

Excellent job covering the airborne assault by the British Airborne Division and hitting the enemy airfield at Lentini.  The British have captured the Primosole Bridge and the Lentini airfield and are now fighting their way toward the town of Catania.

The group destroyed over 40+ enemy aircraft in the air and on the ground during the airborne drop.

Today we welcome the arrival of the B-25 medium bomber to the group.  We'll be using this aircraft in today's mission.

Intelligence:

Today we've been tasked to attack the port and airfield at the capital city of Palermo, grid  BX-27 on your map.



Enemy air cover is expected to be high.

AAA is of medium strength for this area.

Submarine reports state that there are ships off loading enemy troops and equipment, as well as, fuel ships steaming toward the harbor.

The Mission:

1st Squad (A-36 / P-51A) - will arm with default ammo. Provide CAP for the strike aircraft.

2nd Squad (B-25) - will arm with bombs. Attack the harbor and destroy enemy shipping.

HQ & Guests (A-36 / P-51A) - will arm with default ammo. Provide CAP for the strike aircraft.

Mission - 14
Date: July 16th, 1943

After Action Report:

Nice work hitting the port facilities and airfield at Palermo.  We've interrupted the enemy's supply chain and incoming troops for the surrounding area. The group destroyed over 20+ enemy aircraft in the air and we also destroyed the shipping in that area.

Intelligence:

Today we've been tasked by Gen. Patton, personally, to attack an enemy build-up at or near the village of Enna, grid CB-24, pad 6, on your map. Allied spotters for the area report both trains and vehicle convoys (of great strength) heading for Enna. They also report the enemy has armored vehicles (tanks) moving into the area as well.

Enemy air cover for this area is unknown.
AAA strength for this area is unknown.

This mission is hot and straight from the top !!!  We're to hit anything that moves in the Enna area.

All squads (A-36) - will arm with bombs. Proceed to the Enna area, grid CB-24, pad 6, on your map.

Mission - 15
Date: July 17th, 1943

After Action Report:

Great job hitting the Enna area. The enemy has lost vital troops, equipment, and supplies. Gen. Patton's forces can now move further north. The group destroyed 4 trains and vehicle convoys, as well as, destroying three companies of the Hermann Göring division and a rail yard in the village.

Intelligence:

Today's target is the city area of Catania, grid CE / CF - 23 / 24, on your map. The port, shipping, airfield, trains, and vehicle convoys are all targets.



Enemy air cover for this area is unknown.
AAA strength for this area is medium.

The Mission:

All squad aircraft (A-36) - will arm with bombs.

1st Squad assignment is the airfield, pad 9.

Mission - 16
Date: July 18th, 1943

After Action Report:

Nice job hitting the Catania area. The enemy has lost ships, equipment, and aircraft. British General Montgomery's forces can now move further north. The group destroyed trains and vehicle convoys, as well as, destroying aircraft and equipment on Catania airfield. The group also destroyed 10+ aircraft in the air.

Intelligence:

Today's target is the village and port area of Cefalu, grid CA-27, pad 2, on your map. The port, shipping, trains, and vehicle convoys are all targets.



Enemy air cover for this area is unknown.
AAA strength for this area is considered light at this time.

The Mission:

1st Squad (A-36) - will arm with bombs. Assignment is the port and shipping.

That railyard directly adjacent to the port, is that considered part of the port and 1st's target or is it the responsibility of 2nd?

Just making sure, it was possible the train and vehicle convoys that were 2nd's targets were farther afield and that the railyard was part of the "port".
