Hello All,

There was some interest in seeing how my 70" RC B-25 Mitchell Bomber is coming along during the build process, so I thought I would share some pic's as I'm moving along.  :)

This is how I got the plane out of the barn in which it has set for over a year, that's "bondo", automotive paint, and fiberglass all over the plane.

Sanded the plane (3-days ... lol) and began to lighten it as I'm going to use electric motors for power.

Added CAP stripping to the wing ribs and fabricated the ailerons.

Fabricated the electric speed control hatches and covered the aft part of the engine nacelle.

Installed aileron servos (awaiting parts shipment to complete).

Fabricated wing bolt hatch cover.

I'm now in the process of installing the rudder and elevator servos, those pics will be coming shortly.

:)

Nice to see there's still serious modeling craftsmanship going on in the world.  Lookin' very promising, Dave.

but wow, that poor table tennis table's taking some serious abuse.   :surprised-041:

Thanks all for your kind comments, very much appreciated !!!

As for the pong table BB, yes it's taken a bit of a beating, but I try to clean up every night after I'm done and it doesn't look so bad after a good wipe down.  :)

So, did some work on the B-25 today. First I cut some new firewalls in prep for the motor install when they arrive in the mail, also started fitting the engine cowls.

Next I worked the battery access, it's going to go through the cockpit area.

Then lastly today I began to fit the nose glass.

I'm working on the tail blister as well but I'm waiting for some filler to dry before I can make the final fitting.

More to follow.   :)

It is nice to see someone actually going through the process of building a kit instead of just going and getting a BARF kit. Looking good.....makes me want to go clean off my old building table.

_AH_DarkWolf

Whats a BARF kit?  :thinking-008:

Now that's model building. Sweet.

very nice work there dave////  its been many years but I have built some radio control models in my time too... lots of work  then this angry girlfriend of mine decided to wreck them ... what a surprise when I got home  lol... monthes of work all broken into tiny bits....  yikes

AH_DealnDave

S~ All,

Thanks for the kind comments Gatling, Nimble, and "Z" ... very much appreciated.  :)

Was loaned a receiver today from one of my club members, thanks James !!!, and was able to test and rig all of my flight controls minus the motors. Rudder + nose wheel, elevator, and alerions are operational and properly rigged. Now just awaiting the motor power package to arrive in the mail.

Will update with a video in the very near future.

hey ya Dave... looking good... brings back memories of those days when i was building myself.... what engines u going to install..... I assume this will be radio controll???    keep the pics a coming bud.....enjoy watching the progress

:happy-112:

AH_DealnDave

Thanks Nimble, I'm still awaiting for my parts to arrive, they must have taken the slow boat from China ... lol.  I'm also very glad that you and yours are doing OK !!!

Anywho ... while I'm waiting on parts I decided to build a plane that I had back in my yuot ... :)  It's called the Pronto, it took me only two days to build, about 6 hours per day.  It's now ready to cover and I hope to fly it this Sunday if the weather holds.

It's very acrobatic and it has only three channels, rudder, elevator, and throttle.  No ailerons. It normally has a gas engine, but I've set it up as an electric flyer.  :)

Finished the Pronto up today, finished her in an Ole Timey Paint Scheme from the 1920's ... she's ready to fly  :)

Also my B-25 parts arrived today, will be working on her when I get back from vacation.  :)

The Pronto had its maiden flight today. :) She flew great even with the stiff breeze we had today. I flew her twice and have to tweak the rudder control rod, just a tad. No real issues in the air.  :)

Sweet, you need to go FPV. Youll never go back. Throw a little RunCam and little video transmitter with onboard OSD so you know your Alt. Speed etc.. Pipe that in to a nice FPV headset. And youll be ready to have your mind blown. PLUS, you can always run the feed into a 2nd receiver and play it over a larger screen so everyone can see what your seeing real time. It fun to watch everyone in the room start leaning when you make a turn. BTW, you can power that off of a really small battery. It only needs to run a very short time so size and weight shouldn't be a problem.

Battery, well that's up to you and just how long it will run vs. Max weight. A simple 9volt battery will run the system for a nice amount for time,
