I spy, said my little eye … 4 juicy truck parks at the target area.  :)

Yeah, its gonna be a pretty compact area for three squadrons worth of kablooie. Only a handful of us were over the target last mission and there were some close calls. Wood may be adding some more US flags to the scoreboard after this one.

Maybe we should consider assigning two squadrons to the ground attack and keep one clean and high on the perch to deal with e/a?

Mission - 10
Date: November 7th, 1944

After Action Report:

Good work hitting the port village of Carigara. The group sank a coastal steamer supply ship, an armed river boat, and three armed trawlers. The group also shot down 12+ enemy aircraft, as well as, destroying numerous enemy vehicles and troops.

Intelligence:

Good Morning Gentlemen ...

Our tasking for today is Breakneck Ridge, grid BT-31, pad 9, and Kilay Ridge, grid BU-31, pad 2. These two ridges support large caliber artillery guns. These guns need to be destroyed as they cover the village of Carigara and the north-south road to Ormoc Bay. The 1st Cavalry Division is moving a battalion of men into Carigara this morning. We are to neutralize those guns before that unit comes into range.

The guns are supported by AAA on both ridges. There are normally enemy vehicle convoys traveling in and around this area. This area is also protected by regular enemy air patrols.

The Mission:

We are going to hit the enemy guns located on Breakneck Ridge and Kilay Ridge.

1st Squad (P-38) - Arm with default. Provide CAP for the strike aircraft.
2nd Squad (P-38) - Arm with bombs and rockets. Strike Kilay Ridge, grid BU-31, pad 3. Secondary targets are vehicle convoys.
3rd Squad (P-38) - Arm with bombs and rockets. Strike Breakneck Ridge, grid BT-31, pad 9. Secondary targets are vehicle convoys and shipping (if any).
HQ & Guests (P-38) - Arm with default. Provide CAP for the strike aircraft.

Notams:

*If your aircraft is badly damaged, Tacloban airfield is an emergency alternate landing site.
*All pilots to use same comms.
*All aircraft are ZERO fuel at this time.

Date: December 5th, 1944

After Action Report:

Nice work taking out the enemy guns on both Breakneck and Kilay ridges. The group shot down 12+ enemy aircraft.

Intelligence:

Good Afternoon Gentlemen ... our tasking for today are multiple targets.

Submarine reports state that 2x Maru type transports are trying to sneak into Ormoc Bay, also there are numerous enemy vehicle supply convoys moving along the road in grid BU-29, pad 5, area. The enemy port at Ormoc Bay has received more equipment and troops during the night to be used against our troops.

We've also been tasked to hit the enemy's large caliber artillery guns on Hill 918, grid BU-30, pad 3. These guns need to be destroyed as they cover the north-south road to Ormoc Bay, as well as, the bay itself. The guns are supported by AAA on the hill and Ormoc Bay is also covered with AAA.

This area is also protected by regular enemy air patrols.



The Mission:

We are hitting the ships, guns, and Ormoc Bay.

1st Squad (P-38) - Arm with bombs and rockets. Hit the Maru transports attempting to reach Ormoc Bay. Also look for the enemy vehicle supply convoys in grid BU-29, pad 5, area.

2nd Squad (P-38) - Arm with bombs and rockets. Strike the guns on Hill 918.  After the attack on the hill is completed, climb to altitude and preform CAP duties over Ormoc Bay area.

After Action Report:

Great work hitting the enemy guns on Hill 918, the convoys, ships, and Ormoc Bay. The enemy lost valuable equipment, supplies, and troops that they cannot afford. The group shot down 12+ enemy aircraft.

Intelligence:

*ATTENTION ... Radar has picked up enemy planes inbound to Bayug Airfield.  Radar shows a large group approaching from the west at 2500 feet. We believe these to be bombers or troop transports. Another group is approaching from the east at a 1000 feet. These aircraft look to be fighters.



The Mission:

SCRAMBLE ... SCRAMBLE ... SCRAMBLE ...

*All Squads (P-38) - Arm with default ammo. Get off the ground as soon as possible, the enemy planes look to be only "3 minutes" out from our airfield.

Notams:

* All pilots to use same comms.
* All aircraft are at ZERO fuel.

Mission - 13
Date: December 7th, 1944

After Action Report:

Excellent job hitting those enemy aircraft. The group shot down over 40 enemy planes !!! We only lost a few planes, and received minor damage to the airfield. Most of the enemy paratroopers were killed and those that survived were captured and are now in the hands of the MP's.

Intelligence:

Good Morning Gentlemen ...

Our tasking for today is a large group of enemy Maru type transports with destroyer escort. The group is made up of:  6x Maru transports and 2x destroyers. Coast watchers reported that the transport group was in grid BR-32, steaming toward the Leyte north-west coast. Speed was estimated at 15-20 knots.

Once the attack on the enemy ships is completed, fly to grid BV-29, pad 1.  We are providing air-cover for a sea-borne assault by the army. If successful, the army will be able to push north and take Ormoc Bay.

*All Squads (P-38) - Arm with bombs and rockets. Attack enemy ships in grid BR-32, pad's 1-3. When the strikes on the enemy ships are complete, fly to grid BV-29 and cover the sea-borne assault. As always, be mindful of enemy aircraft in this area.

Great turn-out for mission - 13, we had 18 pilots altogether !!!  Here is the next briefing to be flown on Tuesday - December 18th.

"Philippine's Campaign - Leyte"
Mission - 14
Date: December 11th, 1944

After Action Report:

Great job hitting the enemy naval supply convoy, as well as, covering the Army beach landings. The group sank all six  enemy supply transports and both destroyers, also the group destroyed 20+ enemy aircraft in the air.

Intelligence:

Good Morning Gentlemen ...

Our tasking for today is another large group of enemy Maru type transports with destroyer escort. The group is made up of:  6x Maru transports and 2x destroyers. Coast watchers reported that the transport group is in grid BR-32, steaming toward the Leyte north-west coast. Speed was estimated at 15-20 knots, same location as before.

We believe that this is the enemy's last push to reinforce Leyte. The Army is pushing onto Ormoc Bay today, which would mean we would have control of the island. Once the attack on the enemy ships is completed, fly to grid BU-30, pad 2, as we are providing air-cover for Army assaulting Ormoc Bay.

There are also three US destroyers supporting the Army's push into Ormoc. They are located in Ormoc Bay and have begun to shell the port area.



The Mission:

*All Squads (P-38) - Arm with bombs (rockets are optional, if willing to strike Ormoc Bay after ship attack). Attack enemy ships in grid BR-32, pad 1-3. When the strikes on the enemy ships are complete, fly to grid BU-30, pad 2, and cover the Army's assault on Ormoc Bay. As always, be mindful of enemy aircraft in this area.
