there are lots more out here on the SAS site as well, these are just a few here that caught me eye.
they improve your game immensely.

these first two are simple mods which are all ready to just put in your JSGME

1. download & extract
2. plop in your jsgme
3. & activate.

effects mod which adds a lot more battlefield smoke, new explosion effects, new tracers, and lots of other visual effects:

and the view distance mod which increases your in game view distance of explosions, smoke and effects to 10k... basically if you can see the terrain you can see smoke and effects happening there:

these next two take a little more to install, but trust me are easy... i can help you but i can't explain it any better than i am going to in this post...

FIRST... ***
in order to get either the clouds or the hi-res skin mods below to work, you need to replace TWO dll's files in your mail IL2 directory....
the only things changed in these two files are numbers from 1024 to 2048 to allow your game to accept the higher resolution textures....
so to install...
- take these two DLL's in the download link below and replace the stock ones in your main IL2 folder. "il2_core.dll & il2_corep4.dll" MAKE SURE TO BACK THE ORIGINALS UP!
simple as that...

*** HI RES SKINS ***
if you want hi-res skins,
- make sure you've replaced the DLL's above.
- locate the folder called "24Bit Skins"
- place it in the folder named "MODS" inside your root IL2 directory
- NO need to activate anything, the hi-res skins will now be recognized in your game.

**** CLOUDS ****
and for the clouds which i really highly recommend you get, because they are AMAZING!
- make sure you've replaced the DLL's above.
- locate the folder called "CloudMod_HD2048"
- place it in the folder named "MODS" inside your root IL2 directory
- NO need to activate anything, the cloud mod will automatically be on.

i currently have a folder full of 18 skins, mostly spits with a few 109s and one 262 all using the 2048x2048 resolution.
i plan on making some skins for anyone interested in installing this mod for other planes.
these skins are twice as detailed as normal skins so don't expect them immediately.
in the meantime while more skins are made, just having the clouds which work off the higher-res texture mod re worth having alone.
the difference is defiantly noticeable and worth it i think.

Personally, my favorite is the GurnerFX_V4.3_HSFX6 effects mod (the last one on your list). I use that along with his 10k Distance mod, which lets you see smoke/fires up to 10k. The V4.3 has persistent smoke which makes a huge difference in ground attack missions. The persistent smoke along with the 10k distance give you an incredible advantage of situational awareness.

i can't get the persistent smoke to work, and it was the main reason i wanted this. a really messy battlefield look... i threw in these two he linked to maybe fix it.. first one to maybe fix the smoke, and the second to get my screenshot propeller look back, i liked that.... i haven't got to test it much but maybe tonight i'll try again.

Are you sure it's installed correctly? Do you see changes to your effects after you activate it?

oh yeah, i've run tons of mods over the past few years, never really had an issue... back in UP3 i was running RusPs's effects mod's and loved them..
i did notice a change in explosions when i initially installed this, but the smoke just seems to puff out and never a big cloud..
adding that second "static smoke and fire" mod he linked helped a little but something is still not right..
some targets don't even smoke at all after the initial explosion. just a poof of smoke with the fireball and that's it.
i'll find a fix here, no worries..
i just took it all out, re-download it and double checked all my steps on install... i'll test it out when i have time..
i must of missed something...

i uploaded the proper files you need to make them a simple drag and drop operation including instructions.
it's all very simple. i can help you but i can't explain it any better than i have in this post.
please follow my directions and it will all go just fine!

just a quick example of skin differences between 1024 and 2048 resolution
like i said these skins are still in their infancy. the two examples below are nothing spectacular but they do show the change well.
it's not a simple task to just increase the size of the original skins without losing the quality.
they are all being made from scratch basically, but in time more will follow.

this mod goes into your "MODS" folder in your root IL2 directory... nowhere else.
this is a mod i've modified and it will give you outstanding 50 cal, 20mm, german fighter guns (what ever they are), 303's as well as inflight damage hit sounds.
all things the tigers sound mod is lacking big time. this is a 0% performance impact mod. all just replacement sounds.

ok, here is the download to my new customized sound pack, replaces nearly everything but the engines.
if all you want is the 50cal, 20mm, 303, and some german gun sounds simply use the link at the top of this post instead.

simply place into your "MODS" folder. no need to activate anything, this works in perfect conjunction with Tigers Flyby/Engine sounds.
(if you've installed the other one above be sure to remove it, all those sounds are also in this one as well!)

TREES TREES TREES

i've found something out about the hi-res tree mod i had linked earlier...
apparently they do work with HSFX, the issue is the directories.
since HSFX removed them all you have to do is put them back in..

so to get them to work...

- inside your "MODS" folder make the following new folders a.k.a. directories/sub-directories.
/MapMods/Maps/_Tex/
case sensitive i'd presume.

- then inside the "_Tex" folder place the "Trees" folder from the mod download linked below.

take a good look at the link below too, there is a separate download if you run excellent mode instead of perfect mode.

there are some more trees for the desert and MTO areas as well.
they are just an extra 6 or 7 textures that go right into your "Trees" folder that you've made with the instructions above.
