~S~ all:What do you guys think of the following prospective icon settings for the campaign (Note:  all values are listed in km's):

DOT       COLOR      RANGE       TYPE        ID*       NAME
FOE                10**          2            3            1.5           .75       .005
FRIENDLY         10**        2.25         3             2.5           2.5       2.5

*  I plan on using Aviar's system of duplicating ID #'s by making all flights of a given a/c type the first flight in a separate squadron.  Example:   For three flights of four Corsairs, they'd be ID'd in FMB as (respectively):  1st Squadron, 1st Flight;  2nd Squadron, 1st Flight;  3rd Squadron, 1st Flight.  In the mission, each of these four flights would have ID #'s of 1-4.

** This may vary up to +/- 2 km based on weather.

What do you guys think?  All opinions are welcome!

~S~                     OK by me.
I love my country..It's the government I'm afraid of.

_AH_BBQhead

S~. looks like it might work..   i would prefer the dotrange  be reduced by another couple Km..... since anything past 6 or 7 for dots doesn't show up n my computer anyway.. but i'm not expecting that to happen.. hard to talk people into giving up their advantage.

At that awkward age where your brain has gone from " Probably shouldn't say that" to
"What the hell, let's see what happens"?  Me too.

_AH_Moby

Concur Moggs!  No problem here...

~S~!

Mobes.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

~S~ all:
The briefing packages for next week's "dry run" mission have been distributed.  If anyone that is currently on the distribution list (see the Slot Campaign Preliminaries thread) has not received their side's briefing, please let me know ASAP.

Thanks to Crash for his excellent work in putting the brief together in its current form!

I concur Mogg, his ID format eliminates pilot targeting.

S!

S~. yes.. i like that part of it , too.. not knowing who you're tangling with and still having some way to call a number to identify to your help what you're talking about is nice.

~S~ It says that comms will be "TS"(team speak). I now heard that it is not "TS" but will be "VENTRILO".

Am I correct on that?

The plan is to use Ventrilo.  The TS in the brief is a mistake.

S! Beebs:

Do you think reducing the FOE ID from 750m to 500m would be better?

For all:

I'm considering reducing the standard dotrange to 8 km instead of 10.  What do you guys think?  Or should I only reduce it if the weather's less than clear?

_AH_BBQhead

S~.  no..  if it's  only visible from within shooting range then calling a number won't mean anything to anyone except the person that's calling it out cuz no one else will be able to see it.

Roger that, then.  We'll leave it at 750m.  That's fairly close-in, anyway, to be cycling through the player lists to try & determine just who it is.

_AH_Moby

How about leaving the "Foe names" out of it completely....  just the distance icons.

A real pilot would never see his opponents name, and I don't want to know who I'm chasing or fighting anyway, beacause I'm sure some might act/fly differently when they know who they are challenging.

Just another 2 cents.
