    S! chaps.

Last mission was a little rough, we took about 50% casualties in the air. Most of you who were shot down were downed by ace pilots. So we gotta keep an eye out for them buggers. On the flip side we did good in the ground attacks, destroying the most threatening units. Also we finally captured Nuoro.

For Mission #12 we are going back to operating in two groups of two flights, one in the east and west. Both groups will consist of 5 x P-38Js doing ground attack with 5 x P-40Es as escort.

Group One will be operating in the east.  First order of buisness will be the form up at waypoint #2 in G-3 keypad 7. (Note I've set the rendezvous a little farther back after we encountered enemies so early last mission) Once together all aircraft will head for the area of waypoint #3 in G-5 keypad 8. Your first target is an enemy destroyer that was last sighted at that location but more than likely is moving so you may have to search for it. Once it's sunk head north and search for other enemy destroyers in the area of waypoints #4 and #5. Ignore any transports in that area. Once any DDs are sunk, or if there are none, head for waypoint #6 in G-8 keypad 4 and engage any enemy ground units in the area. At least one enemy task force has unloaded ground units in this area so targets should be plentiful. Destroy as much as you can and then RTB. P-40 escorts will not carry bombs this mission. Go clean and get as much altitude as you can.  Remember there is flak around Dorgali (G-6 keypad 7).

Group Two will continue to work the west side of the island. First task will be for all aircraft to rendezvous in E-4 keypad 2. Once complete aircraft will head for E-6 keypad 4 and destroy the bridge at that location.  Once it's down head for the vicinity of waypoint #5 and engage any ground units you can find. Beware of friendlies in that area, identify your targets. Work any units that are to the south of that area then work north along the road towards waypoint #6. Do as much damage as possible and RTB. Same as the first group, the escort will not carry bombs and get as much altitude as possible. Friendly flak is now active just south of Oristano in D-5 keypad 1.

Remember that there will probobly be some aces amongst the enemy fighters, so P-40s do your best to grab some altitude. Flight Leaders should make sure to coordinate with the other flight in their group so as to stay together as much as possible. Ideally the P-40s should be slightly ahead of the P-38s.

All ground attack aircraft are P-38s which are excellent strafing platforms. The cannon allows you to strafe the most common enemy tank from the sides as well as from the rear. So if you're clear of fighters inflict as much damage as you can. P-38s engage in as little dogfighting as possible.

Send me back after the destroyer. I want that destroyer, he got lucky last time this time, his luck is going to run out.

We'll see who slots in where. It'll go B-C-D-A this week.

If all else fails I'm sure Twenty can get you a seat as a gunner on a stuka, Hogan.
