The B-17 came with level stab before the Mod was introduced. So why ban it?  :happy-016:

Yeah but why does it have level stab? So you can keep the plane level while operating the bombsight.

A big part of the challenge of racing is testing your skill at flying smoothly and trimming your plane. This is something that will help a pilot in all areas of flying. You won't learn anything by engaging level stab to fly smooth on straights.

Using level stabilizer goes against all that is Air Racing so we voted and it is not allowed. Now here are the results from last weeks race.

I thought it was the "Mod" that was banned.
How and when you use the level stabilizer is not my point.
My point is that you are banning a part of that aircraft. Would you ban take off flaps?
None of the racers use them and you would be a fool if you did, used or not it is still a part
of the aircraft.....

Again, it has to do with the practical benefits of racing. In this case flying smooth and trimming your plane. Kicking in level stab, wether the plane comes with it as stock or not defeats that purpose.

No one is saying you can't still use it in combat while using your bombsight or if you wanna use your gunner's positions. That's what it's there for.
