In case you're wondering why the mission #s jumped from 9 to 11, my previous numbers were wrong...

First off, well done the last few missions chaps, the results on the ground have been very good, so keep it up.

Ok, here is the plan for this weeks mission.  Once again we will have 6 x A-20s and 6 x P-38s going ground attack with an escort of 6 x P-40s and 6 x P-39s. All of these aircraft except two of the P-38s will be operating in one group.

The 22 aircraft that make up this main force will takeoff and meet up in E-4 keypad 4. They will hold position until the escort has climbed to 18,000-20,000 feet. The escort will head out first towards the target areas followed by the P-38s and A-20s. The ground pounders will proceed to waypoints 5 and 6 and attack any ground units in the area. There are tanks and trucks north of the bridge at WP 5, with friendly tanks on the southern side. At WP 6 we know there are some tanks and at least one AA unit. Be careful in this area as there are friendly tanks at the crossroads immediately south of WP 6 and some enemy units may be among them heading south. A-20s and P-38s will expend all bombs and rockets and strafe anything hostile they can and RTB. P-40s and P-39s may once again carry a 500lb bomb if they wish, keeping in mind their primary goal is escort. The friendly flak that has been present at the crossroads in D-4 the last two mission will not be there this week, those guns are continuing their move forward.

Now, two of the P-38s will have a seperate mission on the other side of the map. They will be operating alone for awhile and there is a risk that they will be engaged by a whack of german fighters. I'll fly one of them (an HQ member taking my place in B Flight) and I'll need a volunteer for the other. These P-38s will load out with 2 x 500lb bombs and go buster for Dorgali "on the deck". Once there they will skip bomb the destroyer that is just off shore. When that is done they will fly south at least as far as Tortoli before turning west and moving to join up with the rest of our aircraft in the Cabras-Oristano area. The hope is, to get in and kill that destroyer before enemy aircraft arrive in the area. If this pair does get jumped they will have to do the best they can and exploit friendly AA in the Dorgali area or near home base at Cagliari. They are NOT to drag additional fighters to the location of the main group. We'll see how things go and play it by ear.

P.S. - Thanks to BB I don't have to shrink down my maps at all! Yaaaayyy!
