Most hats can accommodate a chin strap which by the way was replaced or hidden by the hat band.

Is this not what you asked in your post. Stetson hats AKA cowboy hats have a hat band now. They used to be a chin strap that went threw the middle of the hat down and under the chin, it is how hats stay on. Or he just pushes the hat down hard on the head. that is hard on the ears and can blister them if the hat moves some. Rodeo cowboys used a hat chin as well. Mostly now a days it is replaced with a decorative hat band. Some style like Richard Petty's straw and felt hats have the a Rattle Snake skull and skin or the skull of small rodents, most it is a simple leather band with a fether stuck in it. STUCK A FEATHER IN HIS HAT AND CALLED IT MACCARONI. Any other questions on cowboy hats.  :lol
