Outstanding video on the  Spitfire; when watching this learned something new later Spitfires were fitted with .50 browning guns defentilty gave them the teeth they needed over the .303s

Any Spitfire with an e wing (ie: IXe, XIVe, XVIe) carries 2 x 20mm and 2 x .50s or more rarely just 4 x 20mm. The former are easily identifiable cause the 20mms are in the outboard cannon bays with the .50s in the inner bays.
