Great turn-out for mission - 10, we had 20 pilots altogether !!!  Here is the next briefing to be flown on Tuesday - May 22nd.

"Sicily Campaign"
Mission - 11
Date: July 12th, 1943

After Action Report:

The invasion has been a success so far.  Gen. Patton and Gen. Montgomery's Army's have taken the southern tip of the island and have begun to push further north, while expanding their forces.

Our group destroyed over 40+ enemy aircraft in the air while covering the landings.

Intelligence:

Today the group has been tasked with covering an airborne assault on the enemy held port and airfield of Licata, grid BZ/CA-22, pad 3/1. The 82nd Airborne Division is being deployed using gliders and parachutes.

Enemy air cover is expected to be high.
AAA is of medium strength for this area.

The enemy may also attempt to reinforce the area with more troops via trains and vehicle convoys.

The Mission - AIR START:

Provide air cover for the airborne assault.

All squads (Spitfire) - will arm with default ammo. Then proceed to the patrol area over Licata, grid BZ-22, pad 3, on your map.

Escort the C-47's departing Gozo to the drop area.

Destroy any enemy aircraft encountered. Secondary targets are any enemy reinforcements, trains or vehicles.

Notam's:

*All squads to use the same comms channel this mission.
*All aircraft are zero fuel and weapons at this time.

1st Squad (seats 1 - 8)
2nd Squad (seats 9 - 16)
3rd Squad (seats 17 - 24)
HQ & Guests (seats 25 - 28)

Good Luck ...

Good turn-out for mission - 11, we had 16 pilots altogether !!!  Here is the next briefing to be flown on Tuesday - May 29th.

"Sicily Campaign"
Mission - 12 (1/2 way point of campaign)
Date: July 14th, 1943

After Action Report:

Gentlemen ... Welcome to Sicily. The group has been assigned to the Ponte Olivo airfield in the Gela area. We'll be flying the A-36 Apache (P-51A). Excellent job covering the airborne assault by the 82nd Airborne Division.  They have taken both the port and captured the airfield at Licata.

The group destroyed over 40+ enemy aircraft during the airborne drop.

Intelligence:

Today we have been tasked once again to cover another airborne operation.  This time we are covering our British allies using USAAF C-47's. The target area for the airborne drop is near the Simeto River at Primosole Bridge, grid CF-23, pad 7, on your map.

The group's target upon completion of the airborne drop, is the enemy airfield of Lentini, grid CE-23, pad 5, on your map.

Enemy air cover is expected to be high.
AAA is of medium strength for this area.

The Mission:

All squads (A-36) - will arm with bombs. Rendezvous with the C-47's at Vizzini, grid CD-22, pad 5, on your map.
Provide air cover for the airborne assault on the Simeto River at Primosole Bridge area.
Attack the enemy airfield at Lentini.

Notam's:

*All pilots to use the same comms channel this mission.
*All aircraft are zero fuel at this time.

1st Squad (seats 1 - 8)
2nd Squad (seats 9 - 16)
3rd Squad (seats 17 - 24)
HQ & Guests (seats 25 - 28)

Good Luck ...

P.S. Due to the mission lag in the last mission the C-47's are only dropping "cargo" to replicate troops.
Salute,

LOL.  Last mission, between the lag from the paratroopers and my fabulously inconsistent internet speeds, I got to see something in game I've never seen before.
I thought the lag had cleared when I saw a 190 zoom from underneath to in front and slow to normal speed so I started to close in on it. Seemed to be running pretty smoothly now.   Got close, checked behind and around me one more time before going to the gunsight and pulling the trigger, started firing away... and firing and firing.. and firing..out of ammo.. was about to, or maybe had started to break off and turn  for home but  then I saw across the top of my screen it said I was Killed. I didn't feel dead. I hadn't seen any flack coming up, didn't hear any bullet hits, or see any go by..?? wiggled my stick a bit, it was still working and thought "no i'm not?" I heard me say Whatthe?  as I do from time to time..  and then  KABOOM!  exploded.  good times good times... Gotta love this game.   (kooky)

At that awkward age where your brain has gone from " Probably shouldn't say that" to
"What the hell, let's see what happens"?  Me too.

I won't be able to do anything skin wise for the B-25s. I think I have some good templates I got from Jarink but I've never touched them yet. So, I got nothin.

I still haven't done the A-20s, are we due to fly those again during the campaign, Dave?

Looks like for the next few missions we are in P-51A's, then we transition to P-40's for a bit, however on Mission 19 we get A-20's once again, we will also have them during missions 21-23.
