wasn't sure at first.. some snooping around says its a me-163 komet. it would explain the boom, especially if they caught it right after take off, that fuel was volatile! not 100% sure though.

   These 'strip maps' are what were issued for missions. One is for the attacks on Bougainville from Henderson field on Guadalcanal. The other one was for the mission for the attack flights from Bougainville to Rebaul. They were made from silk or cloth. They were also the same type as issued to pilots in Europe.
