   FAA questions and answer.
1. Do model pilots have to register with the FAA?
ans: If you fly a model weighing more than 55 lbs. you must register at:
        http://registermyuas.faa.gov      or   call (877) 396-4636

2. Am I permitted to fly above 400 feet?
ans:  All models must remain within visual line of sight of the pilot/observer which assures that most models will operate below 400 feet.

3. There are airports within 5 miles of where I fly. What do I need to do?
ans: You must notify all airports(with control tower) within 5 miles the location where you are flying.Information can be found at :
        https://skyvector.com    or   call AMA at (800) 935-9262 and they will send you a latter.

i've been fishing in the bay at solomons, sometimes the jets will come out of patuxent and give you a show!

Yep. Saw a few osprey landing as I was coming up  the river towards the harbor and heard a lot of jets as I was getting close in the bay- only spotted one of them though.
