~S~ Everyone.

Over the past few days I've been spending my time working on a template file for the F4U A-D and might also work with the corsairs and C models not sure on though.

While in the process of making a new skin I like to separate certain panels to make painting them easier and more efficient. I've retained the void part and disected it. I also created a background layer which is is a very light red but easily changeable. Found certain panels which are a pain to find. I've also retained all the rivets and panel lines.

On individual layers

Fuselage outlined
Wings: The top and bottom of each wing is outlined.
Vertical Stabilizer: Right and left outline with rudder shown.
Horizontal Stabilizers: Outlined top and bottom
Panel under Radiator flaps
slim panel located inside engine cowling
Canopy: Outlined
Panel between elevators and stabilizers
Radio wire towers outlined
Outline of panel lines in white in front of cockpit
Spent shell casing ports added in 3d to the underside of the wings
Canopy slide rails added

All of these are on individual layers which you can manipulate at your pleasure. The template file is done in PaintShop Pro 10 and saved as such to retain the layers.
Here is what the finished file appears like.

S~ All,

Twisted....wish I could use it, however I'm using photoshop...bummer, arg.  Also as a very somber note, I mistakenly lost all my IL-2 templates.  Some of which I have been working on for over 6 years.....almost stopped skinning, but I have started to rebuild them one at a time, this time only working those of my fav planes....still kills me to think of loosing those though....arggggggggg !!!!!!!!

Photoshop should be able to open a psp file. I know Paintshop Pro can open Photoshop files.

I've got to find an upload place as the file is over 10megs and I've got to watch my bandwidth on my business site. I'm going to look into a couple and post a link if I can find a place that will allow me to upload this.

I'll also see if there is a Photoshop extension that I can save the file incase you have a problem.

Ok hope this works. I've saved it as a .psd file also. This should enable you to open it in Photoshop and also retain the layers.
I've uploaded them as a zip files on filefront. Hope these links work.
